BPC-157 has one of the most favorable safety profiles among research peptides. After 30+ years of animal research, no significant toxic effects have been identified at therapeutic doses. No LD50 (lethal dose) has been established, meaning researchers could not determine a dose that causes death in animal studies — an indicator of very low acute toxicity.

Common Reported Side Effects

Based on self-reported user data and available research, the following mild side effects have been occasionally noted:

  • Nausea — most often reported with oral administration, typically mild and transient
  • Dizziness — rare, usually dose-dependent
  • Hot or cold flashes — occasionally reported, mechanism unclear

  • Theoretical cancer concern — BPC-157 promotes angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation). While this is beneficial for healing, theoretically it could potentially promote growth of existing tumors by increasing their blood supply. People with active cancer or a history of cancer should avoid BPC-157.
  • Unknown long-term effects in humans — human clinical trial data is limited. Most evidence comes from animal studies.
  • Drug interactions — BPC-157 modulates nitric oxide and neurotransmitter systems. Potential interactions with blood pressure medications, antidepressants, and NSAIDs should be considered.
